Sarah Elizabeth Schantz has been invited by Best New Stories from the Midwest to host two panels and give a reading at the Midwest Small Press Festival in Milwaukee the weekend of June 1st-3rd, 2012. She will be discussing women and surrealism in Kansas, and the role of the Wizard of Oz in what we call the “Heartland” of America. She will also be reading from her novel, The Calendar of Ordeals, which is currently being considered by Samantha Shea at the Georges Borchardt Literary Agency in NYC. Also, her short story, “First Snow” won third place in a fiction contest hosted by 971 Menu. The story will be published online June 1st, 2012.
