Congratulations to JKS alumna and Naropa faculty member Ethelyn Friend on her latest solo performance! More Than Daisy Dares is a Emily Dickinson-inspired solo piece Friend researched while on sabbatical from Naropa. Friend describes it as, “a perfect way to explore both what is hidden and revealed in Dickinson’s work, mirrored in my relationship to my life in theatre.” This version includes video footage created for this piece by Ed Bowes, this year’s Guggenheim Award-winner for filmmaking.
Ethelyn Friend, performer/writer of More Than Daisy Dares, holds an MFA in Acting from Brandeis University, and a BFA from Naropa’s University’s famed “Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics”, created in 1975 by Allen Ginsberg. She a teaching member of the Roy Hart Theatre of France, (widely considered one the fullest existing authorities on the use of the human voice and its application to modern theatre), and a founding faculty member of Naropa University’s MFA in Contemporary Performance.
