Rikki Ducornet is the author of more than twenty books, including novels, collections of short fiction, poetry, essays, and books for children. One novel, The Fan Maker’s Inquisition, was an L.A. Times Book of the Year, and another, The Jade Cabinet, was a finalist for the National Book Critics’ Circle Award. Her most recent novels are Netsuke (2011, Coffee House Press) and Gazelle (2003, Knopf). She has taught at the University of Denver, where she was Writer in Residence from 1988 – 2000; at Brown University and Naropa University; at Bard College; and at the Vermont Studio Center. In addition to being well known for her writing, Ducornet is also a respected visual artist and illustrator whose paintings, prints, and drawings have been exhibited in the U.S. and abroad. She has illustrated books by Jorge Luis Borges, Robert Coover, Forrest Gander, Kate Bernheimer, Joanna Howard and Anne Waldman among others.
