Chris Pusateri is the author of ten books of poetry, most recently Common Time (Steerage Press, 2012), which was shortlisted for the Colorado Book Award. His poetry and critical prose appears in many periodicals, including American Book Review, Chicago Review, Fence, Verse and others. A librarian by trade, he lives outside of Denver with his partner, the poet Michelle Naka Pierce.
Justin Sirois is a writer living in Baltimore, Maryland. His books include So Say the Waiters, The Heads, MLKNG SCKLS, and Falcons on the Floor (written with Iraqi refugee Haneen Alshujairy). Justin received individual Maryland State Art Council grants in 2003, 2007, 2010, and 2011 and a Baker “b” grant in 2011. You can read episode one of So Say the Waiters here: http://www.bakerartistawards.org/files/projects/sosaythewaiters_episode_one_promo.pdf
Justin will be in Colorado to celebrate the release of his new book of poetry, The Heads of My Family, My Friends, My Colleagues from the NewLights Press in Colorado Springs. Here’s what poet CA Conrad has to say about The Heads:
“The tattoo / underneath the tattoo / speaks the language I want to learn.” Justin Sirois has always been one of my favorite living poets. “You have / everything you need / when you’re naked”, I trust, I trust ALL his discourse with our throbbing excitement for communion. His poems are our best possible use for ears. If I don’t know you and you LOVE these poems as much as I do, let’s get together to read them out loud over a delicious slice of something. “Lick the window / & your reflection licks back” is a delicious something we all love. It’s important they know to have a copy of this book resting on my heart when they cremate me.
